On September 21, 2024, the staff and second-year students of Negros Maritime College Foundation, Inc. joined two significant events organized by the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) – Negros Oriental-Siquijor Chapter and the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) in celebration of National Maritime Week.
The day began with a eucharistic mass at the newly constructed PPA port building at the pier area. Alongside NMCFI’s staff, the event was also attended by various stakeholders invited by PPA and MARINA, highlighting the spirit of community within the maritime sector.
Following the mass, a lively motorcade took to the streets of Dumaguete City. Participated in by the college’s second-year students, the parade was brought to life by the energetic beats of Banda Manga, adding festivity and jubilation to the occasion.
This year’s National Maritime Week carried the theme: “Our Ocean, Our Obligation, Our Opportunity” — a timely reminder of our duty to protect and sustain the seas that continue to provide for and connect us all.
