Negros Maritime College Foundation Inc. has recently opened its new campus at Magatas, Sibulan and it is expected for a full opening of its facilities soon once face-to-face classes return.

The new campus will replace the old campus at Airport Area, Sibulan, which is the campus’ first and longtime home since the late Capt. Edith Vera, PCGA founded the school in 1994.

The new campus currently is operating partially due to the COVID-19 pandemic, only opening its accounting and registrar’s offices and the faculty room.

Some of its facilities, like the computer room and the simulator rooms, have been fully ready and prepared for operation, but it will not be opened until the resumption of face-to-face classes due to the pandemic.

The classrooms will be wider and more spacious than its previous classrooms at the old campus, however it is currently under construction, with some nearly in completion.

Other facilities, like the canteen, and the walkway to the campus, are already soft-opened, and it will serve as the area for students and visitors to enter the campus, eat and relax.

Prior to the soft launching of the new campus this year, the Marine Engineering Laboratory and the TESDA-SMAW laboratories were the first school facilities that were opened back in 2018 way before the entire structure of the new campus was even built.

The institution is hopeful that while the campus will still not operate fully at this time because of the pandemic, they are expecting a grand opening and dedication of the new campus soon.

Because of the current situation, visitors and students who wish to visit the new campus are required to follow minimum health protocols, like wearing of face masks, face shields and social distancing, which social distancing markers are now located outside the accounting and registrar’s office.
